Cohorts

Group users dynamically based on their behaviors and profile properties.

What is a Cohort?

A Cohort is a saved segment of users. Instead of manually applying the same complex filters to every report you build, you can define a Cohort once and use it everywhere.

For example, you could create a Cohort called "Active Power Users" defined by:

  • Performed Purchase Completed at least 3 times in the last 30 days.
  • User property Plan equals Pro.

Creating a Cohort

  1. Navigate to the Cohorts tab in the sidebar.
  2. Click + New Cohort.
  3. Define the behavioral rules (Events) and trait rules (User Properties).
  4. Give the cohort a descriptive name and save it.

Using Cohorts in Analysis

Once a cohort is saved, it becomes available as a filter in all other dashboard modules (Analytics, Funnels, Retention).

You can also group data by Cohort. For example, in the Analytics view, you can group by Cohort to compare the event volume of "Active Power Users" against "New Signups".

Dynamic Calculation

Cohorts in Emp-Mix are entirely dynamic. If a user meets the criteria today, they are in the cohort. If their behavior changes tomorrow such that they no longer meet the criteria, they are automatically removed.
